This high-speed Gigabit Ethernet switch is ideal for building small workgroups as well as small- or home-office networks. It's also a good choice for remote- and branch-office installation. Its fast 1000-Mbps ports provide fast file transfer, yet automatically adapt to older 10- and 100-Mbps devices, enabling you to mix and match different network speeds on the same network. All ports support Auto MDI/MDI-X, so you never have to worry about whether you need a straight-pinned or crossover cable.

Fully manageable

The switch is fully managed, supporting SNMP version 1, 2c, and 3. The embedded RMON software agents support RMON groups 1 (history), 2 (statistics), 3 (alarms), and 9 (events). The integral Web server enables Web-based management via a Web browser. This GUI interface enables switch configuration, system dashboard, maintenance, and monitoring. The wide range of management and support features also includes dual image, port mirroring, LLDP, sFlow, UPnP, IPv6, SSH, RADIUS, DHCP Client/DHCPv6 Client, SNTP, cable diagnostics, ping, Syslog, and Telnet client with SSH security.

Support for VLAN and QoS

Support for up to four simultaneous VLANs enables you to segment traffic with port-based, 802.1Q tag-based, or MAC-based VLANs. 802.1p Layer 2 quality of service (QoS) enables prioritization of time-sensitive applications such as VoIP and video.

Secure

You get enterprise-class security features, too. 802.1X port-based network access control authenticates devices connecting to your network. The switch also supports SNMPv3 cryptographic security, SSH, and SSL. Plus, you can set up a guest VLAN that enables visitors to access the Internet without also giving them access to the corporate network.

Green

The Gigabit Ethernet Managed Switch features IEEE 802.3az energy-efficient Ethernet, which scales down power consumption during periods of low data activity. This feature adds up to energy savings of up to 50%. Cable length detection adjusts signal strength to the cable length, reducing power consumption on shorter cable runs.

This advanced, fully-manageable Layer Dual switch gives you networking versatility. It features 24 high-speed fiber ports: (20) 100-/1000-Mbps SFP fiber ports and (4) dual-media 100-/1000-Mbps SFP/twisted-pair ports.

This switch offers advanced switching and security features normally found in more expensive switches. You'll get extensive management capabilities, greater bandwidth control, and QoS for switching in VoIP and other real-time, high-performance applications.

Pack up the trunk.

To provide more bandwidth to a specific application or segment, combine ports using the switch's 802.3ad Link Aggregate Control Protocol (LACP) capabilities. With this bandwidth aggregation feature, the combined ports create a multilink trunk for load sharing. The switch supports 12 groups with 8 ports per group.

The switch offers extensive Quality of Service support including prioritization, classification, scheduling, rate limitations, and more. The switch also supports eight hardware queues.

The last two ports give you the option to connect to fiber-based Gigabit Ethernet. The transceivers are hot-swappable and available in multimode and single-mode versions.

Keeping it real-time.

This switch not only supports Layer 2 802.1p Priority Queue control, but it also provides enhanced QoS support for real-time applications like Voice over IP (VoIP). And it supports Layer 4 TCP/UDP port and ToS classification.

Mirror, mirror on the port.

Port mirroring copies traffic from one specific port to a second target port. This mechanism enables you to track network errors or abnormal packet transmissions without interrupting the flow of data. All ports on the switch are capable of port mirroring.

The traffic report.

You can use VLAN to isolate traffic between different users and thus provide better security. Plus VLAN enables you to confine the broadcast traffic to the same VLAN broadcast domain to boost network performance. IGMP V1/V2 snooping limits bandwidth-intensive multicast traffic to only the requesters.

Life in the fast lane.

The switch enables you to combine ports to create a multilink, load-sharing trunk. Port trunks are useful for switch-to-switch cascading, which provides very fast, full-duplex speeds for high-volume communications. All ports are autosensing for speed and auto-negotiating for duplex. The switch's Auto MDI/MDI-X feature means you never need a crossover cable. Furthermore, the switch supports IEEE 802.x flow control for full-duplex mode and collision-based backpressure for half-duplex mode.
