Gefen's AV over IP solutions continue our tradition of providing high performance, scalable, expandable, and secure AV routing and distribution over a standard Gigabit Local Area Network. Our Gen 2.0 KVM products offer enhanced performance, features, and functionality such as 4K Ultra HD with HDR support, built-in scalers, video-wall control, independent USB, RS-232, IR, and audio routing**, and backward-compatibility with our first generation products. Each Sender and Receiver extends and routes video, USB, 2-way audio, RS-232, and IR.

The EXT-UHDKA-LANS-TX & RX feature maximum input resolution of 4K 60 Hz 4:2:0, and maximum output resolution of 4K 30 Hz 4:4:4. HDCP 2.2 and 1.4 are also supported. 7.1 channels of HBR (High Bit Rate) lossless and LPCM digital audio can pass through the system as well.

The Sender unit features a video output for local monitoring of the source. USB, RS-232 2-way IR, and audio can be routed independently** between any Sender and Receiver unit, allowing end-users to control any of the sources and the displays within their network. With this greatly expanded array of new cutting-edge features and performance, the new Gefen AV over IP products fully address the ever-growing needs of systems integrators.

The Receiver features a built-in scaler to help optimize the image for a variety of displays and different viewing environments. It also includes a powerful video wall controller that accommodates any screen configuration up to 16x16 and provides great flexibility in sizing and manipulating live and signage content in demanding installations. Digital and analog audio break-out de-embeds audio from the video and sends it to a separate audio system, enhancing the impact of presentations. The Receiver's integrated USB hub with two USB 2.0 and two USB 1.1 ports accommodates touch panels, keyboard and mouse, and a variety of supported devices. This feature, along with analog audio inputs and outputs, make these products perfect to use in collaborative and interactive installations. To ensure maximum versatility and compatibility, the audio outputs on the Receiver units are compatible with both headphones and line level devices such as powered speakers.

The Gefen 4K Ultra HD and VGA KVM over IP extends HDMI, VGA, USB, 2-way audio, RS-232, and IR. The Sender features a 1U tall and half-rack-width enclosure, perfect for rack mounting using the Gefen EXT-RACK-1U-GRY rack tray (available separately). It can also be surface mounted or be placed on a shelf. The Receiver is also rack mountable using the rack tray, can be surface-mounted, or can be placed on a shelf. When used with the included IR Extender module, this low-profile unit can be hidden away behind a display or in the equipment closet.

Create Video Walls & Virtual Matrix Systems

The video wall controller that is built into the Receivers accommodates any screen configuration up to 16x16 and provides great flexibility in sizing and manipulating live and signage content in demanding installations such as sports bars and restaurants, or in corporate, education, hospitality and retail establishments. When used in conjunction with the EXT-CU-LAN Matrix Controller, system configuration is automated and quick. Enhanced network security by separating the control and AV networks is also made possible when used with EXT-CU-LAN. Other control options include front panel buttons, web server interface, Telnet, UDP, and the Gefen Keyboard Switching Controller software (available for download at www.gefen.com). A built in 3-port Gigabit switch on each receiver allows the connection of additional receivers, providing daisy-chaining functionality. In applications such as digital signage, where there may be a need to replicate content on multiple displays throughout the installation, the ability to cascade receivers essentially removes the requirement for a cable to be connected directly to the main network switch, thereby extending the range of these units far beyond the limits of a point-to-point video distribution system. The Sender and Receiver can be used as nodes in a virtual matrix environment with a combination of just over 65,000 Sender and Receiver units where any source can be routed to any or all displays.

Point to Point IP Extension

The Sender and Receiver can be used as KVM extenders in a one-to-one system by connecting them directly with an Ethernet cable. Each cable run from a Sender to a Receiver or from a Sender or Receiver to the network switch can be up to 100 meters (330 feet).

4K Video Support

Input resolutions up to 4K 60 Hz 4:2:0 and HDR, and output resolutions up to 4K 30 Hz 4:4:4 are supported along with HDCP 2.2 and 1.4, and 7.1 channels of HBR (High Bit Rate) lossless and LPCM digital audio. The Gefen EXT-UHDV-KA-LANS-TX and RX feature HDMI and VGA inputs and outputs, and can support DVI when using Gefen HDMI-to-DVI cables. The Sender unit also features a VGA output for local monitoring of the source. The VGA input and output support VESA resolutions up to 1920x1200 at 60Hz (WUXGA).

Auto-Switch 4K Ultra HD HDMI and VGA, scale, and extend up to 70 meters/230 feet, over a single CAT-5

The Gefen EXT-UHDV-WP-HBTLS-TX is a high-performance solution in standard US electrical wall-plate form factor for switching 4K Ultra HD HDMI and VGA inputs, and extending them up to 70 meters (230 feet) at 1080p and 40 meters (130 feet) at 4K, over a single CAT-5e cable. Switching between the HDMI and VGA can be set to Automatic or be done manually via the front panel button or RS-232. It supports 10.2 Gbps of data throughput and 300 MHz TMDS Clock frequency, accepting HDMI 2.0 signals up to 4K 60 Hz 4:2:0 or 4K 30 Hz 4:4:4. This extender uses Gefen's implementation of the HDBaseT™ technology with enhancements such as Advanced EDID Management. The HDMI input accommodates resolutions up to 4K Cinema-DCI (4096 x 2160 to 30 Hz 4:4:4) and 4K Ultra HD (3860 x 2160 to 60 Hz, 4:2:0, or 30 Hz 4:4:4), with HDCP 1.4. Highest performance multichannel digital audio including 7.1 channels of LPCM and HBR (High Bit Rate) digital audio formats, such as Dolby Atmos®, Dolby® TrueHD, DTS:X™, and DTS-HD Master Audio™ are passed through to the HDMI output. The VGA input features a companion L/R analog audio input, and accepts VESA and CEA resolutions up to WUXGA (1920 x 1200 to 60 Hz, 4:4:4) and 1080p Full HD (1920 x 1080 at 60 Hz, 4:4:4). A powerful built-in scaler can upscale lower resolution VGA signals with legacy aspect ratio to widescreen WUXGA, ensuring stunning presentations and smooth switching transitions between the HDMI and the VGA sources. The EXT-UHDV-WP-HBTLS-TX extends RS-232 when used with a compatible Receiver unit such as the Gefen EXT-UHDA-HBTL-RX, facilitating the control of A/V sources placed near the Sender from the viewing location, and sending automation commands to the display or another device placed near the Receiver unit. It also accepts RS-232 commands for switching, scaler controls, and EDID management from a third-party controller placed near the Sender or remotely by the Receiver. HDBaseT™ standard POH (Power Over HDBaseT™) technology powers the Sender remotely from the Receiver unit, using the same cable that extends the HDMI signal. This feature simplifies installation in many cases where supplying power directly to the wall-plate is not practical. Alternatively, if powering the wall-plate Sender from the Receiver unit is not feasible, a separately available power supply can be hard-wired to a detachable "captive-screw" Phoenix connector on the back of the wall-plate. The Sender uses the North American standard 2-gang wall-plate form factor and can work with most "open-back" low-voltage installation brackets and table boxes. It is compatible with most standard North American Decora® wall-plates (a white-colored wall-plate is included). It also accommodates Gefen locking HDMI cables for secure and reliable connections.
