The Emerald 24-Port Fiber Network Switch is a power-efficient and resilient Gigabit Ethernet switch designed to optimize the performance of your Emerald system. It features integrated 10-Gbe uplinks for advanced Layer 3 distribution. This switch offers a non-blocking architecture that allows it to handle unexpected traffic loads. On top of all that, the Emerald Network Switch provides performance assurance with a data rate of up to 212 Gbps and a forwarding rate of up to 158 Mbps.

More and more physical servers are being replaced by virtualization, allowing better performance, availability, scalability, and return on investment. Emerald simplifies access to both physical and virtual servers with virtual machine support for VMware, Microsoft, and Citrix, using RDP 8.1, RemoteFX, and PCoIP, among others.

Fail-safe operation

All Emerald transmitters and receivers feature copper or fiber connectivity through one (HD) or two (4K) flexible SFP+ slots.

Your 24/7 operation requires network resilience. Use the redundant network ports on the Emerald units to provide continuous, uninterrupted operation even if one network link experiences loss-of-service. Connect the endpoints either through two alternative direct links, a direct link, and a network connection or two independent networks.

Network Requirements

For HD video, Emerald requires a standard Gigabit Ethernet network and possibly a 10 Gigabit aggregate switch, depending on how many endpoints you have. For 4K video, you'll need a standard 10 Gigabit Ethernet network with a 100 Gigabit aggregate switch for 20+ endpoints. For both, the network infrastructure required by Emerald can be built with IEEE 802.3 standards-based components from Black Box or other manufacturers.

The USB Hubs connect easily to peripheral serial devices in external plug-and-play fashion. Because they're hot-swappable, you can install them without having to power down your PC.

Each hub comes with all necessary drivers, utilities, and help files for quick setup in Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, and Windows XP operating systems. Simply load the included software drivers, then connect the hub to your USB port and a serial device (printer, bar-code scanner, etc.). The hub even autoconfigures itself, enabling hassle-free, seamless integration into your existing application.

The USB to RS232 converter allows you to connect eight non-USB RS232 DB9 devices to your USB bus. The USB Hubs are ideal for connecting factory automation devices, such as data loggers and industrial machinery, or any device that depends on links that aren't affected by excessive noise or spikes in voltage.
