  • Veracity Gigabit Ethernet Extender - Network (RJ-45) - 656.17 ft Extended Range

Gigabit Ethernet is commonly used for Local Area Network (LAN) installations, although 100Base-TX is often used for single IP camera connections. As IP devices become more diverse, many applications demand network connections that exceed the maximum 100 metres (328 feet) distance limit for cabled Ethernet.

OUTREACH Lite G provides an instant solution to this restriction for gigabit Ethernet connections (a 100Base-TX only version of OUTREACH Lite is also available - see table on next page).

Simply connect an OUTREACH Lite G in the middle of a network cable run to double the available range to 200 metres (656 feet).

    Simple installation
OUTREACH Lite G takes advantage of the universal 802.3af/at/bt POE standards, so it can draw its own power from the network connection. No local power is required, therefore OUTREACH Lite G can be located exactly where it is needed.

If your network switch has POE, simply connect OUTREACH Lite G up to 100 metres from the switch, and it will deliver another 100 metres reach over regular Cat5e or similar cable (Diagram 1). If POE is not available, the link can easily be upgraded using a low-cost POE injector such as Veracity's gigabit compatible OUTSOURCE (Diagram 2).

No set-up or network configuration is required, as OUTREACH Lite G automatically sets up network speed, duplex and crossover on connection, and does not require an IP or MAC address.

    Go further
If POE and network extension beyond 200 metres (656 feet) is required, Veracity's OUTREACH Max G may be installed to extend Ethernet and POE to OUTREACH Lite G For example, a 300 metre (984 feet) connection between a POE switch and another network device can be achieved by fitting an OUTREACH Max G at 100 metres along the cable, followed by 100m then an OUTREACH Lite G, and up to 100m to the gigabit network device.

For longer Ethernet runs, Veracity recommends LONGSPAN long distance point-to-point devices, which can achieve 100Base-TX connections with POE at up to 820m (2,690ft).

    No restrictions
Because OUTREACH Max G and OUTREACH Lite G simply restore the network connection every 100 metres, the full bandwidth of gigabit Ethernet is maintained across the entire link. This maximises performance and transparency, with no risk of a reduced or unpredictable bandwidth, even at distances of several hundred metres or more.

  • Veracity HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 LINKLOCK - Four Channel Unit With LINKLOCK - 1 x Network (RJ-45) - 1640.42 ft Extended Range

LINKLOCK™ technology provides secure tamper-proof network connections over coax cable
LINKLOCK options are available in Veracity's high performance HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 and Base 8 Ethernet and POE over coax devices.

    • Tamper-proof Ethernet and POE over coax
    • 8 tamper-proof channels per Base unit
    • Tampering or interference with cabling shuts down channel
    • Relay contact alarm output on tamper, with reset pins
    • 32 POE or POE Plus channels in 1U with four Base units
    • Automatic configuration for simple installation
    • Full duplex 100Base-TX performance on each coax

LINKLOCK™ provides a secure barrier to unauthorised access to your network
LINKLOCK™ detects any disconnection/reconnection or tampering with any part of the cabling between the Base unit and the IP camera or other POE device.

    When Is LINKLOCK Required ?
Any externally mounted IP cameras potentially leave an exposed network connection which could be used by attackers to access the rest of the network - to disable the surveillance system for example. This may also expose the corporate network as this is often bridged to the surveillance network. LINKLOCK prevents such attacks by completely disconnecting power and data for that channel whenever it detects a cable disconnection or reconnection or even any tampering such as "tapping in" to the coax or network cables.

    How Does LINKLOCK Work ?
LINKLOCK works by constantly monitoring the POE power connection and data transmissions. It can detect even subtle changes or interruptions in the data transmission characteristics which will trigger disconnection and alarm, whilst remaining extremely robust against false alarms. Once triggered and disconnected, the channel can be re-established via the reset pins after suitable action is taken to determine the cause of the alarm (i.e. a possible attacker).

    HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base LINKLOCK Option
LINKLOCK™ is available as an option on Veracity's HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 and Base 8 models of Ethernet and POE over coax adaptors. The Base unit accepts external power via a POE switch or a DC power supply. It sends power over the coax link to the Camera unit. The camera unit in turn provides POE (Power-overEthernet) to the IP camera. See HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 or Base 8 datasheets for full information on HIGHWIRE.

    LINKLOCK provides
protection to both the coaxial cable and the Ethernet cable connecting the IP camera to the HIGHWIRE Camera unit (sections A and B in the diagram opposite). LINKLOCK disconnection (blocking mode) is triggered when: The coaxial cable A is disconnected The Ethernet cable B is disconnected The coaxial cable A is disrupted The Ethernet cable B is disrupted Note that having a secure or encrypted link over the coax alone does not prevent intrusion as the Ethernet link to the camera would still be open and unsecured without LINKLOCK.
When blocking mode is enabled, all external equipment is immediately isolated from the internal LAN. The internally-located HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 or 8 unit will : Remove POE Power from the coaxial cable (this disconnects and switches off the HIGHWIRE Camera unit and IP camera). Completely disable its coaxial network interface for the triggered channel only. Close the alarm relay contact and indicate the alarm channel with a red LED.

Four 8-channel Base units provide 32 IP channels in 1U, with space for an optional IU power supply and up to 25W POE per channel

    Proven Technology

Veracity's HIGHWIRE technology has been proven in tens of thousands of installations over many years, delivering high-reliability full 100Base-TX Ethernet in all conditions. This offers consistent, predictable, IP video network performance even with today's high resolution HD and 4K IP cameras, delivering a full speed over 300m of RG59 cable, and 500m over RG11.

    Multi-Channel Rack Mount Unit

Base 8 integrates eight HIGHWIRE channels and a gigabit switch into a single unit. It is specifically designed to allow rack-mounting of up to four units in 1U, giving 32 channels per U. Veracity's unique 57V rack-mounted POE power supply accessory can be mounted in the same 1U.

    Cost-effective Network Connection

The integration of a Gigabit switch reduces the number of main switch ports required to connect many IP video cameras. Thus each HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 8 unit requires only one main switch port, or 4 network ports for 32 channels. Each Base 8 unit also has a rear mounted SFP socket for an optional SFP fibre Ethernet module.

    Base and Camera Units

In the diagram below, the HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 8 unit is connected to 8 legacy coaxial cable links. At the camera ends, there are single-channel HIGHWIRE Powerstar Camera units connected to each link. The original analogue cameras are replaced by new IP cameras which are connected to HIGHWIRE Camera units. The Base 8 unit is powered by a Veracity 57V PSU and power is delivered up the coax to power the HIGHWIRE Camera units which, in turn, power the IP cameras.

    Simple Installation

With no need to configure IP addresses, set DIP switches, or pair units, installing HIGHWIRE Powerstar is straightforward. As soon as power is applied, the IP cameras will power up and their IP addresses will become available on the network. The zero configuration HIGHWIRE units are completely network transparent.

    Multiple Channels per Coax

HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 8 is compatible with Veracity's Powerstar Duo and Quad Camera units, connecting multiple IP cameras over a single coax. For example, an obsolete analogue PTZ camera could be replaced by four low-cost static IP cameras using a Powerstar Quad unit.
