TL-R1620Sdc | Dual-controller SAS 12Gb/s storage expansion for enterprises

Featuring dual controllers, an OLED indicator, and a short-depth rackmount design, the 3U 16-bay TL-R1620Sdc SAS 12Gb/s storage expansion enclosure is ideal for expanding the storage capacity of dual-controller QNAP NAS. Both controllers have three Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8644) ports, supporting 12Gbps SAS and Broadcom® SAS DataBolt™ bandwidth optimization technology. The dual path mini-SAS design sustains continuous operations even if an external JBOD cable is disconnected. Up to 7 TL-R1620Sdc units can be daisy-chained via high-speed Mini-SAS HD cables, providing scalability and high reliability for mission-critical storage of file servers, virtualization, surveillance, medium-sized data center, multimedia, and more.

Failure-resistant with a dual-controller, dual-path design

Connect the TL-R1620Sdc to a dual-controller QNAP NAS and create a redundant cross loop configuration that provides expansion units with redundant paths to the base NAS and protection between JBOD connections. If one or more paths to the TL-R1620Sdc disconnect, other expansion units can still communicate with the base NAS. This is essential for intermachine data protection and capacity scalability for uninterrupted mission-critical enterprise tasks.

The base NAS requires QES 2.1.1 (or later) and either Mini-SAS HD (SAS 12Gb/s SFF-8644), Mini-SAS (SAS 6Gb/s SFF-8088) ports or a PCIe-based SAS expansion card.

Highly efficient, reliable and scalable

The TL-R1620Sdc is powered by a low-power 28nm SAS35x28R SAS Expander and supports 12/6 Gb/s SAS/SATA drives. Both controllers have three Mini-SAS HD (SFF-8644) ports, and each SAS wide port combines four SAS 12Gb/s channels for up to 48Gbps bandwidth.

The TL-R1620Sep-RP SAS 12Gb/s storage expansion enclosure is designed for expanding the storage space of your QTS or QuTS hero NAS. Up to sixteen expansion enclosures can be daisy-chained via high-speed mini SAS HD cables to support up to 4.6PB raw capacity, ideal for archiving/backing up virtualization applications, surveillance recordings, large data, or multimedia. Featuring Broadcom® SAS DataBolt™ bandwidth optimization technology, the TL-R1620Sep-RP consolidates 6Gb/s infrastructure into 12Gb/s. When connected to a QTS/QuTS hero NAS that supports multipath routing, the TL-R1620Sep-RP can achieve smoother data transmission and continuous system operation.

The TL-R1620Sep-RP has four 12 Gb/s SAS 3.0 (x4 Lane) SFF-8644 SAS Wide Ports. Up to sixteen TL-R1620Sep-RP can be daisy-chained to achieve a raw capacity of up to 4.6PB.

Multipath routing to ensure continuous system operations

By daisy chaining the TL-R1620Sep-RP, data transmission loads can be balanced with multipath routing to achieve high availability. If one route fails, another transmission route can be used to access the data and ensure continuous system operations. The TL-R1620Sep-RP also features a redundant power supply to ensure system uptime.

TL-R400S Rackmount JBOD storage enclosure allows you to back up and expand your QNAP NAS, Windows® and Ubuntu® computers and servers. The TL-R400S features four 3.5-inch SATA 6Gb/s drive bays, the shallow rack design is perfect for installing the TL-R400S in a compact rack, or in areas with a lot of cabling. TL-R400S comes with a QXP PCIe card for connecting the enclosure using a SFF-8088 (or SFF-8644) cable. It provides reliable read/write performance for smooth storage and backup tasks.

• High-capacity TL SATA JBOD not only can expand NAS storage, but also Windows® and Ubuntu® computers and servers.

• SFF-8088 (or SFF-8644) connection cable supports four SATA 6Gb/s channels per cable (24Gb/s in total) and provides faster data transfer speeds than eSATA and USB.

The TL SATA JBOD supports multi-lane SATA 6Gb/s transfer, and each SATA lane directly connects to a single SATA drive to help improve performance. With the 1-1 high-speed channel, the TL SATA JBOD delivers excellent transfer performance.

Flexible Storage Configuration and Management

The TL-R400S provides software-controlled storage configuration for greater management flexibility. You can configure RAID and monitor JBOD enclosure and disk health with Storage & Snapshots when connected to a QTS or QTS hero NAS, or with the QNAP JBOD Manager utility when connected to a computer.

• Use the Storage & Snapshots Manager in QTS or QTS hero to configure the TL-R400S as a storage enclosure for your QNAP NAS. The NAS expansion storage mode supports various NAS functions, including storage pools and snapshots. With TL-R400S, you can easily expand storage capacity.

• The QNAP JBOD Manager is a desktop utility for monitoring the TL-R400S on Windows® and Ubuntu® computers. You can quickly obtain disk statuses, JBOD information and health, view fan rotation speed, and check for firmware version updates.

Intelligently Monitor JBOD Enclosure Status on PC and Servers with QNAP JBOD Manager

The QNAP JBOD Manager is a desktop utility for monitoring the TL-R400S on Windows® and Ubuntu® computers. You can quickly obtain the disk statuses, JBOD information and health, view fan rotation speed, and check for firmware version updates. All device events are recorded, and will send desktop notifications when a system alert occurs.
