Performance
The USB multiport adapter leverges the USB-C DisplayPort Alt Mode and USB Power Delivery technologies to support an external monitor and Power Delivery functions. It offers three USB 3.0 Type-A ports that supports data transfer speeds up to 5Gbps. The hub is entirely USB bus powered and does not require a power supply to work. The HDMI 1.4 port on the Mini Dock can support resolutions up to 3840x2160@30Hz and 1080p resolutions at 60Hz

Compatibility
Compatible with Windows, macOS and Chromebook systems with a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode, USB Power Delivery or Thunderbolt 3. Our adapter has been tested on the MacBook Pro, HP Spectre x360, Dell XPS, Lenovo ThinkPad and many other systems with compatible USB-C or Thunderbolt 3 ports. A good USB hub for Macbook Pro.
Not compatible with USB Type-A systems even when used with USB Type-A to USB Type-C adapters.
The host system and connected monitor must support the desired resolution. The host system must also support Power Delivery over USB-C in order for charging functions to work

The HDMI 2.0 port on the USB C charging hub can support resolutions up to 3840x2160@60Hz and 1080p resolutions at 60Hz. For computers which support DisplayPort 1.4 (DP 1.4), such as the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, the Surface Book 3, or the Surface Pro 7, this USB C multiport adapter supports 4K 60Hz. Please consult with your system manufacturer to check if your USB-C port supports DP 1.4.

What is the USB-IF and why does certification matter?

The "Universal Serial Bus Implementers Forum" is a non-profit corporation founded by the group of companies that developed the Universal Serial Bus specification." To put it another way, the USB-IF creates the standards that have enabled billions of USB devices and hosts to inter-operate and "just work" over more than the last 20 years.

USB-IF certified products have passed rigorous testing to ensure that they comply with specifications and perform as advertised. Achieving certification requires higher-grade materials and manufacturing processes to ensure the best possible data integrity, performance, and production consistency which may be lacking in cheaper commodity cables.

Standards-compliance is especially important with USB-C cables given the much higher current available per the USB 3.1 spec. Non-compliant cables can potentially cause damage to your devices if the cable does not behave according to USB specifications.

Plugable USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter Cable

The Plugable USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter Cable enables a DisplayPort display to be connected to a computer via a USB-C port or Thunderbolt 3 port which supports "VESA DisplayPort Alternate Mode over USB-C" ("Alt Mode").

Supports resolutions up to 3840x2160@60Hz (4K) on DisplayPort displays.

Uncompromising Performance

Alt Mode adapters allow you to add an additional display output easily and inexpensively on supported systems. Since DisplayPort Alternate Mode is a direct pipeline to the host graphics processor (GPU) in your system, the connected display will function with the same uncompromising performance of a natively attached display.

Video and photo editing, gaming, and other resource-intensive tasks are possible assuming that the system's GPU capabilities are sufficient for the application being used.

Note: Apple has limited the 4K abilities of the 2016 and previous 12" MacBook to only support 30Hz.

Incompatible Systems

Most current phones and tablets with USB-C ports do not support Alt Mode video output.

ASMedia USB 3.1 controllers do not support Alt Mode video at this time.

DisplayPort connector cannot be converted to HDMI, DVI, or VGA.

Our cable is not bi-directional and can only work with DisplayPort port displays.

Motherboards with dual USB-C/Thunderbolt 3 ports are limited to a single Alt Mode output; only one Alt Mode adapter supported per system.

DisplayPort MST

Adapter is capable of passing Multi-Stream data. However, DisplayPort MST daisy chaining is dependent upon the host system, graphics drivers, and monitors being used.
